Where to put a luopan in a small apartment

Where to put a luopan in a small apartment

The classical advice for a luopan assumes a house with a hall. Most of our customers have a one-bedroom and a hallway the width of a bicycle. Here is the practical version.

The rule, shortened

Centre of the home, roughly chest height, needle free to settle. That is it. Everything else is refinement.

In a studio

Your “centre” is wherever the main living happens — usually the shelf or table you see first from the bed. A bookshelf at chest height works well. Avoid the kitchen counter: steam and oil are hard on bronze, and the compass deserves better company than a toaster.

In a one-bedroom

The spot most people land on is a console or shelf near where the living room meets the hallway. If you can see it from both the sofa and the front door, you have found it.

Three things to avoid

Directly on a windowsill (temperature swings), the bathroom wall (tradition is firm on this one), and anywhere it has to share a shelf with a Wi-Fi router — not for mystical reasons, the magnet in some routers genuinely nudges the needle.

Still unsure? Email a photo of your room to care@oriens.world and we will mark the spot. Free, always.
