Description
The Piece
This is the compass we built the brand around. Solid cast bronze, engraved concentric rings, a hand-balanced needle and a rosewood base — just under two kilograms all told. It reads as an instrument rather than an ornament, and it tends to become the first thing people notice in a room.
Craft
Cast in Quanzhou by a family workshop now in its fourth generation. Finishing a batch takes about forty days. Each compass is numbered on the underside and comes with a material card and a linen dust cloth.
Placement
Near the centre of the home, at roughly chest height — a hall table or study shelf works well. The included card covers the traditional first placement; it takes about five minutes.
